A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a voicemail message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has persistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, the tribunal learned phone records and evidence retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly requesting Madeleine's mother for a biological test during that period.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and continues to be open.

'I Don't Want Money'

A separate phone message, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine was, but I feel what I know."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording said: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am she? Then what? Wouldn't that be important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the recording stated.

The tribunal was told that by means of emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who gathered the data, advised the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording stating "I will persist and I will prove my point."

The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt before assisting her on a visit to the McCanns' home in the county in that winter.

Call logs revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out using messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she ought to be taken seriously in the period before the trip to the village, that area, in that winter.
