Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
